Zelda: TP To Use Rev Controller?
Zelda: TP To Use Rev Controller?
UK-based NGC Magazine is reporting that Nintendo's highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will utilize the Revolution's new controller when being played on Nintendo's next console.
Quoting the magazine, it states that, "NGC can exclusively reveal that Twilight Princess will be playable on the forthcoming Revolution using the upcoming console's unique controller. Zelda will actually 'bring in' the Revolution by launching fairly close to the new system, which is set to be released around November of next year, according to our sources."
Naturally there has been no official confirmation of this news by Nintendo or anyone else in the know. Nor is it clear whether this rumor indicates that the use of the Revolution controller would mean full motion-sensitive movement, or just simple button-mapping.
There is still as of now no specific release date for Twilight Princess here in the United States or anywhere else around the world. However, Nintendo last specified that the game would not be released before March 31, 2006 to coincide with the end of the current fiscal year.
We will continue to cover the next Zelda game and will bring you any new information and details on the title the moment we receive them. Please check back with Advanced Media for the latest news as we head into the New Year.
Note: AMN has been unable to get ahold of the latest NGC issue, thus we cannot confirm whether the story is authentic or not. Readers should consider this story a rumor.

The UK-based NGC Magazine has recently announced their intentions to stand behind their previously printed story regarding The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and the alleged Nintendo Revolution functionality in the face of official remarks made by Nintendo. The publication has previously printed that the forthcoming game in the Zelda series would indeed be released for the Nintendo GameCube, but would offer unique functionality when played on Nintendo's next-generation console, tentatively named the Nintendo Revolution.
According to the report, Twilight Princess, is capable of utilizing the freehand controller of the upcoming system in addition to the standard Nintendo GameCube controller. Nintendo's forthcoming freehand controller functions similarly to a remote controller, in that it is held in a single hand, however it can be used to simulate a standard PC mouse through its unique technology. Users can simply point and move the device in order to influence their character's actions.
According to NGC, "The news came from somebody senior at Nintendo who, admittedly, probably shouldn't have let it slip before E3. But they did, and we would have been crazy not to print it."
In regards to the story printed in NGC, Nintendo officials have consistently been quoted as saying "no official announcement has been made". The company has not yet fully denied the rumor.
Regardless of the publication's stance, Nintendo has yet to officially announce the proposed feature, and has yet to issue a definitive release date for the anticipated Zelda title, Twilight Princess. The Advanced Media Network promises to follow up on this story. Stay tuned for further details.
